Okay, in utter disgust at the lack of filtering of spam and advertisements, I've set up a Yahoo! discussion group. It has the ability to ban people, but I've left it otherwise open for now. I plan to copy and paste our livlier topics straight over there over the weekend, and I'll be setting up the official invites. In the meantime, the group name is [b]revwar[/b]. I'll have time to send you guys the details tomorrow. (Hmm, maybe I should have named it Mayflower, since we're fleeing the persecution of spam and a site admin that isn't listening to our pleas,...When in the course of internet events it becomes necessary for the members of a forum to sever those bonds which...etc!)

If we ever decide to get serious, I can probably round up a PhP board (like the blue one here), but for now I'm just happy you've found something you can control.

I keep thinking that one of us should rewrite the Declaration of Independence for this situation, do it as a global announcement, and each of us who is bailing "sign" it by replying with only our names.

I know for sure I'll need everyone's e-mail adress. Send it to mistwolf@pacbell.net and put something in the subject line that tells me your from this site. (Sometimes I get delete-happy!)

Okay, I sent out three invites and posted a topic just to see how starting one of these things works. I noticed that I didn't see it right away, but we'll have to see what happens.

I just posted, but I don't see it reflected yet on the forum either. I wonder why it's not immediate?

It probably takes a little bit for the posts to get cycled through Yahoo!s servers, which are probably pretty busy. I did get the notification of your post, though. It may be slower that the php forum, but at least it's more secure. If we can find a secure place to move the forum, we may have to do an "Article of Confederation" bit and move again, but meanwhile the Yahoo group should serve our purposes.

I was looking at a site that was identical to the old forum, but it lacked the security features. We'd be back in the same old boat, just as if the new Republic had gone with a monarchy.

Boy! Was this an appropriate situation for this group or what??? Exclamation

Okay, I found an option that required me to approve all messages from new members. I turned it off to (hopefully) expedite posts. If we start getting hit again, I can turn it back on. By then nobody of the regulars should be considered a "new" member.

Still, it's been about an hour and I still haven't seen my last post. You might want to check and make sure that option really is turned off.
